What lossless files can the new slim ps3 play?
I think the older ps3 couldnt play losless.
can the new one do it?

| Every PS3 can play DSF files from DVD (DSD-Disc) and 16/44.1kHz WAVs from flash storage/HDD/DVD. |

isnt that a bit low bitrate and no compression? hmm.
I was considering buying one to use as a media player, but my music collection is all in files. no disks.
if it can't play lossless files, it's kinda bad... |

Exactly the same like the old one, which I believe means none. |

| DSF (SA-CD 2 ch quality) and WAV (CD 2 ch quality) are both loseless. |

Very true. Arguably they're not even compressed, let alone lossy.
I just had the impression the OP was thinking rather of conventional 'consumer' codecs like FLAC and Lossless AAC. |
