Sony's got a whole new 2012 range of Blu-ray Disc Players - BDP-S390
- BDP-S490
- BDP-S590
- BDP-S790
and BD Home Theater/Home Cinema Systems: - BDV-E190
- BDV-E290
- BDV-E390
- BDV-E690
- BDV-N590
- BDV-N790W
- BDV-N890W
- BDV-N990W
(see our news coverage).
Question is whether they support SACD. Neither US press release/product fact sheet nor the European press release mention it. These German product spect sheets seem to indicate they do:
BDP-S490, BDV-N790W, BDV-N990W.
Are there any other sources that back this up while we're waiting for Sony to get back to us to confirm this? |

| None found yet, but Sony Europe has confirmed SACD playback for all 2012 BD players. See our news update. |

| I just got a BDP-S390 ($50 for a manufacturer refurb at NewEgg!). The current firmware (M.11.R.0422) supports SACD-R, as well. Support in older firmware is mixed (the one it came loaded with didn't recognize the disc, but I've read firmware revisions earlier than that work), but up to date it works perfectly. |
